OpenWhat is GlobCoin
GlobCoin is a tokenized currency basket. Currency baskets can comprise selected currencies with different weightings. GlobCoin is a blockchain-based platform that will launch a series of baskets. The underlying basket of currencies will be tokenized on the Ethereum blockchain. GlobCoin community participants will be able to monitor the performance of these currencies and purchase them from the platform, GlobCoin digital wallet or exchanges. GlobCoin currency basket unit is able of tracking the 15 largest global currencies and gold.
GlobCoin team have developed two Ether tokens. The first one is a utility token (GCP) that is employed to issue and access various currency baskets, inter alia, the World Reserve Currency. The second GlobCoin token (GLX) is the Global Currency coin that represents an exposure to the 15 largest fiat world currencies and gold. To issue and exchange GLX for fiat currencies GCP tokens will be required.
GCP token holders will be able to exchange their fiat currencies after the first GlobCoin basket and GLX have been launched. GlobCoin is planning to quote GCP on various exchanges and launch GlobCoin crypto platform (regulatory framework, complete IT back-end, etc.) in spring 2018.
