What is Origin Protocol

Origin Protocol is a set of protocols that enable developers and businesses to create decentralized sharing economy marketplaces on the blockchain. 

Origin team aim to create a marketplace that would allow buyers and sellers of shared goods and services (car-sharing, service-based tasks, home-sharing, etc.) to transact without traditional go-betweeners. Ethereum blockchain and Interplanetary File System (IPFS) will facilitate decentralization and allow the Origin community members to create and book services and goods.

The main idea behind the Origin Protocol is decentralized web, where businesses and individuals could build their marketplaces on the blockchain. Origin protocol helps create and manage listings for the shared usage of goods and services. The users can then search these listings to make bookings. Origin network will also envisage ratings and reviews submission. 

The Origin platform will employ the Origin cryptographic token to provide cryptoeconomic incentives. It is an ERC20 token that will be used for the following functions: creating positive and negative incentives (to ensure platform security), enabling Origin network management, and facilitating buyer/seller transactions. 

In 2017 the Origin team launched alpha on Ethereum testnet. Implementation of fully decentralized Origin services and governance is scheduled for 2019.
