What is Algae Farm

Algae Farm® disruptive intellectual property and technology includes systems and processes that continuously produce high yield, reliable, predictable, scalable and sustainable algae biomass in an indoor climate-controlled environment. The biomass has “algae oil” intact. This oil contains chemicals such as EPA, DHA and others. When extracted from the biomass, the AlgOil™ can be used as a contributory part of high value algae derived products such as Omega3 based nutraceuticals. Therefore, our market and focus is high value specialty chemical markets that include consumer and healthcare products. We are a contributory part of these finished products. Our mission is to be a reliable supply source to our end user, the manufacturer, of these products and in some cases services. The purpose of this project is to commercialize the related Algae Farm® intellectual property and technology.

The proprietary algae production device is called Biogae™, a modular, scalable 4,000 US/gallon bioreactor designed to be deployed indoors. A mobile on-site non-invasive solution is also available.

The Method – takes the basic production principles of “mother nature’s” outdoor algae production and brings the process indoors. When applying biotechnology principles, the issues such as contamination, inconsistent temperature, inconsistent sunlight and other environmental and climatic issues are mostly mitigated. The result is more predictable production yield. In other words, we have moved away from agricultural growth in favor of biotechnology.

Algae are primarily grown, harvested and extracted outdoors using sunlight and water (fresh or salt depending on the algae strain). Growing anything outdoors is problematic due to climatic uncertainties. Climatic uncertainties result in unpredictable and unreliable production yield. Unpredictable production yield will result in an inability to sustain growth required for commercialization. Scalability is necessary to produce high yield algae oil, residual biomass and algal biomass.

Algae are the fastest-growing plants in the world. Like other plants, they use photosynthesis to harness sunlight and carbon dioxide, creating high-value compounds in the process. Energy is stored inside the cell as lipids and carbohydrates, and can be converted into fuels such as biodiesel and ethanol. Proteins produced by algae make them valuable ingredients for food additives, nutraceuticals (vitamin supplements), cosmetics, plastics, animal feed and much more.
