ECKO is based on the X13 Algorithm which uses 13 rounds of hashing with 13 different hashing functions such as blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, echo, hamsi and fugue. The Algorithms X11 to X17 were created as GPU focused Algorithms but ASICs (Application-specific integrated circuit chips) were eventually introduced to mine coins with these Algorithms. X13 is considered energy efficient when compared to earlier Algorithms like Sha256 and Scrypt. However, we do not have the issue of getting to use ASICs to get hold of ECKO coins. More on this is detailed in the following sections.

ECKO is a POS coin which means no mining involved. POS stands for Proof of Stake. A wallet stakes coins (or fractions of a coin) based on coin age of the coins in the wallet. The coin age for ECKO is 24 hours. The wallet will stake coin(s) when the coins in the wallet mature.

Why is the coin not being made minable?

Miners can use X13 ASICs and there is a possibility that one individual can mine the majority of the coins and can manipulate the future of the coin resulting in destroying the core idea of the coin, the community. By making it a POS coin, the manipulation by the miners is avoided.

How can one become a co-owner of ECKO?

150 shares are available to purchase before the ICO begins. Each share has 100,000 (one hundred thousand) coins. One may purchase more than 1 share, but is limited to a maximum of 5 shares. Each share costs 0.005 BTC. The other benefits for coowners include but are not limited to percentage distribution of ECKO from fees received in the products launched in the ECKO Platform. Co-owners will also receive coins from the distribution of unsold coins in the ICO.
