Carbon is compatible with smart contracts and is closely correlated to the US Dollar. Carbon introduces a price-stability model called the Aztec model. In the Aztec model, there exist two tokens: Carbon Stablecoin (CUSD) and Carbon Credit.
Carbon Stablecoins can be used as gas/payment for using decentralized applications, instead of those applications issuing their own native currency. A price-stable cryptocurrency may be used in decentralized applications involving time-sensitive smart contracts, such as betting, insurance, and lending markets.
