What is Acki Nacki

Acki Nacki blockchain technology is a Rust-based implementation of a probabilistic proof-of-stake consensus protocol. It is designed for asynchronous operation, optimizing finality speed and supporting execution parallelization to improve throughput.

The protocol incorporates probabilistic mechanisms to enhance Byzantine fault tolerance beyond that of Nakamoto consensus, Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) protocols such as HotStuff and AptosBFT, as well as Solana’s consensus approach.

Consensus is reached in two communication steps, with a total message complexity that scales subquadratically with the number of participating nodes. Safety guarantees are probabilistic and dynamically adjusted. Instead of relying on deterministic consensus mechanisms constrained by message complexity and Byzantine agreement limitations, the protocol employs probabilistic algorithms to overcome these restrictions. The use of randomness and socioeconomic factors in its design suggests that traditional trade-offs in blockchain consensus mechanisms may not strictly apply.
