What is Proof of Play

Proof of Play is a blockchain-focused game studio and technology company founded in 2022, aiming to create engaging, accessible onchain games that grant players ownership and control over their in-game assets. Their mission is to build fun, decentralized games that run entirely on blockchain, ensuring permanence, security, and extensibility, while abstracting the technical complexities for players.

Their flagship game, Pirate Nation, is a fully onchain role-playing game (RPG) where players assemble pirate crews, battle creatures, and compete on leaderboards. It’s free-to-play to lower barriers to entry and operates on their custom Apex blockchain, part of the Proof of Play Multichain, built on Arbitrum Orbit for fast, scalable, and cost-efficient gameplay.

Proof of Play also develops open-source blockchain infrastructure, including a high-performance verified random number generator (vRNG), a no-code tool for onchain data publishing, and modular technology for developers to build scalable, interoperable apps and games.
