What is Avalanche network
Avalanche is an open-source blockchain platform on which public and private blockchains, DApps, NFTs and cryptocurrencies can be deployed in a single scalable ecosystem.
The main goal of the project is to solve the classic problems of many L1 blockchains; the blockchain trilemma, where one must make trade-offs between security, scalability and decentralization with the least loss. And in fact Avalanche is endowed with the ability to connect to sidechains and support Layer 2 solutions.
A rather young protocol Avalanche launched in 2020 under the leadership of Ava Labs founder Emin Gun Sirer, together with Kevin Sekniqi and Maofan Yin. It’s worth noting that the first mention of Avalanche is noted in the 2018 Team Rocket developer publication. In 2019, the document was updated and added along with several Whitepapers documents.

Key mechanics of Avalanche blockchain
Note that the Avalanche protocol structure uses a multi-chain system with three main components:
- P-Chain
- C-Chain
- X-chain
Each network is endowed with its own design and configuration, providing the platform with higher speed and throughput.
This split is perhaps the main difference between Avalanche and other blockchains.
Avalanche uses Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) technology to execute transactions in a parallel way. This is a key concept that the Avalanche ecosystem utilizes to achieve the overarching goal of scaling the blockchain.
Also worth noting is that the Avalanche resembles Ethereum, as it is endowed with a nearly similar set of features and tools. Protocol is also compatible with EVMs and offers the use of smart contracts. In addition, Avalanche is well ahead of ETH and is capable of processing up to 4,5k TPS. In early 2024, Ava Labs announced the Vryx Solution, which is designed to significantly increase the speed of transactions on the Avalanche framework.
However, Avalanche is actually divided into many Subnets that allow developers to create their own blockchains within an optimized framework.
Each subnet can be created by a developer and has its own rules, parameters and governance model. In this way, the community is able to establish the most favorable conditions and consensus mechanisms for the blockchain to work properly.

Token AVAX
AVAX is a proprietary Avalanche protocol token based on Proof-of-Stake consensus, which is intended for payment of transaction fees, staking and other key operations. In addition, the AVAX token can be used during the creation of smart-contracts and can be used in DApps under development.
